Face Your Fear and PROPEL it!

No good story ever begins-“When presented with a challenge….she caved.”

What’s your challenge?

Can I make a sustainable income?  How do I balance work & home?  Will I be able to get myself used to a new routine?  What if I can’t do it?  What if I have no marketable skills?  I’m afraid of change.  I don’t know what to expect.  I don’t know where to begin.

These are very realistic fears for any women looking to enter/reenter the workforce, but don’t let it hold you back. Being the deer in the headlights doesn’t often end well for the deer.

A lot of us allow fear of the unknown quash our dreams before they’ve even had the chance to fully form.  What begins with fireworks fizzles out with self doubt.  PROPEL’s total of 50 graduates (and counting!) prove to us the benefits of moving forward.  Their actions teach us that although there might be unforeseen obstacles, it is our attitude that impacts our ability to move through those ‘bumps in the road’ and succeed in spite of them.

“Don’t let fear make the decision for you,” says Ellen Ades, PROPEL’s Career and Life Coach. “Fear is a useful emotion, but if you’re trying to make a positive change in your life, take the emphasis off of the fear and on the action. Propel will help you  focus on what is possible and how to achieve it.”

It can be scary stepping out of one’s comfort zone, but it’s important to know that this feeling is also the catalyst to further growth. Many of us think of fear as a reason to resist change. The truth is fear is a natural reaction to anything new

How can one tread through the unknown with confidence?

8 Steps to Move Forward

  1. Use fear to motivate-not stagnate you.
